Louise Wilkes – Hands 4 Hounds

Describe your business services?
I provide Canine Remedial Massage in the Norfolk area. I have a diploma in Canine Remedial Massage from the Institute of Complementary Therapies. Dip ICat (Dist).

Who is your target client?
Dog owners primarily in the area 25 miles around King’s Lynn but further afield by arrangement.

What is the benefit of using your business/service/product?
Massage works to reduce pain and stiffness and increase range of movement, flexibility, energy levels and well being. It is particularly beneficial for older dogs experiencing age related stiffness and arthritis, dogs with joint conditions such as hip and/or elbow dysplasia, dogs recovering from accidents or injuries which have caused lameness, and dogs with cruciate ligament injuries, particularly if they’ve had surgery. Massage is also a great way of guarding against injuries for sporting or working dogs.

Why did you choose this business?
I have had a long held interest in dogs and also movement and how it can be improved - particularly if that also reduces discomfort and makes everyday activities easier. This interest began in relation to myself and then transferred to dogs when we adopted a dog with hip dysplasia and another of our dogs developed sponylosis – a form of spinal arthritis
